Thierry Papineau is the Area Manager for Happy Goat Coffee Company (est. 2009), responsible for overseeing these remarkably sustainable and inclusive coffee shops that are taking Ottawa by storm. Thierry had a long history working in the makeup and media production industry before stepping into his current role at Happy Goat approximately a year ago. Committed to delivering Happy Goat's mission of providing excellent quality coffee and a safe and welcoming environment for the community, all it takes is a five-minute conservation with this kindred spirit to see his energy and passion shine. These last few years, Happy Goat has seen significant growth and there is only more to come. Thierry and his team act as leaders in the community, supporting local causes and setting an example for businesses everywhere, big and small, highlighting the importance of putting ethical practices and quality products above all.

ADVOCACY THROUGH APPAREL
June 9, 2021 - VTD APPAREL
Vivian Anchor, founder of VTD Apparel is a International Studies student at Carleton University. In 2020, the Black Lives Matter movement swept social media in a way the world has never been before following the murder of Geogre Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chavin. Seeing this, Vivian took action to spread awareness and empower people to seek justice for those BIPOC who were murdered as a result of police brutality. Using clothing as a means to continue the conversation and advocate for action, VTD Apparel grew in popularity. In this epsiode, we speak to Vivian about what it means for people to use clothing as a form of advocacy, and the significance of using her business as more than just an outlet for her clothing, but an educational platform

Ali hosts online and in person fitness classes, and also has her own line of clothing and fitness gear. Through her passion for encouraging growth of body and mind, Ali has captured the support of many within the Ottawa area and has also formed a recurring clientele. In this epsiode, we discuss what It means to sell a service and the challenges of maintaining a fitness-based business amongst a pandemic.

TIMELESS FASHION AND VINTAGE PASSION

Co-owned and operated by Ottawa-based university students Dara Sarvi and Logan Porter, BLVD Curated is is an online vintage and thrift sales platform. Primarily operating through Instagram, BLVD sells stunning, high-quality and often brand-named clothes and accessories such as shoes, purses, and items for the home. Gaining over 1.7k followers since its creation in Spring of 2020, BLVD has been encouraging people to rethink fashion and put a sustainable foot forward. As BLVD constantly releases stunning pieces that people cannot wait to get their hands on, this epsiode discusses the unique skill that is thrifting and what work goes into an Instagram business behind the scenes.

SUSTAINABLE FASHION AND BEING YOUR OWN BOSS

Created by two Carleton University alum, Filthy Thrift is a Vintage business that sells both clothing and accessories. Filthy Thrift was started in 2018 by Ellie and Danielle and has since garnered the support of over 5,000 followers. The girls spend their time thrifting and selling brands like Nike, Levi's, Adidas, and cater to both male and female styles. We are beyond pleased to welcome them as our first guests!
